SCANDAL GIRL’s TALK: As expected, we need love songs!

There are many outlooks on love, and they change over time, but therefore! As expected! We are going to keep singing 「LOVE SONGS」So, we present a refreshing interview on SCANDAL’s “present” philosophy on love!

After a wonderful love affair comes …  a concert where the four of us ◎◎!!! (laughs)

Sitting down together, they try to be formal, and begin their rather punchy love conversation. As a group, they can usually be called a band, but indeed, as four girls, they have four perspectives on love. It’s all girl talk without a single word of anything music-related – please enjoy what they have to say!

This is the last part of the BABY ACTION Album interview! Rejoice! Be glad! Okay, I am. These music related interviews are actually really hard for me to read. The next part – the ‘Girl’s Talk’ part, took only maybe three or so hours and I’m already like 70% done. These ones are really hard to slog through. I know getting through books are a lot more difficult, though, soooooooooo one can only hope I finally get around to getting through stuff like Parade, etc.

Speaking of first attempts, this album includes the first song that was both written and composed by the band, ‘Very Special’.

MAMI: It started with the B-side on the first release of 2011, ‘Pride’, which was RINA’s song (‘Emotion’). The B-side for ‘Haruka’ was mine (‘Want You’), then ‘LOVE SURVIVE’ was TOMO’s ……

(T/N: I think she actually forgot; the B-side was ‘Hikare’; RINA wrote the lyrics and she wrote the music with MAMI)

When we say that we can write our own songs, it’s also like saying that we’re one step closer to reaching our dreams. Maybe we’ve matured a bit since our previous works, on this album.

When you debuted, was there anything that personally had a big impact on you?

Before we debuted, we went on tour in America, but if I had to say one thing, it would be moving to Tokyo.

Today, we went to see SUGER’s play,「Flowers blooming in an abandoned building」★

It was really really moving, I kept crying from the middle onwards (>_<。) lol

I kept thinking, theatres are so nice♪♪

There’s only about a month left until Christmas～… But, it’s getting pretty crazy～(^_^;

We don’t have any time to meet up except for on the weekends, so we have to finish our original song。

We’re going to work until it kills us!!

An interesting note on this interview – the questions were slightly different and less rigid and scripted compared to the others, there seemed to be more of a friendly feeling between the two. I don’t know if I’ve captured this well, but maybe they were both more at ease during the interview.

Best Debut
So, when you debuted, was there anything that surprised you?

All of the preparations for our debut. You start preparing for the interviews, PVs and a lot of things quite a while beforehand, right? Like, suddenly it was the real thing and everything just hit us. What left a particular impression on me was when we watched the playback while we were filming the DOLL PV. I thought things, ‘So this is how they film things’ and ‘wow, so many calculations go into this’, it felt like half of it was someone else’s problems (laughs).

Best Debut
Did anything memorable happen at the same time as your debut?

Um, I guess, it was my friend telling me, “I saw your CD!”. I’ll never forget it.

I see. A classmate?

I heard it from a lot of people I had gone to middle school with, like a girl called Ayako. I kind of felt like, “And with this, I’ve actually debuted!”.  But where I’m from, TSUTAYA’s the main music store, and they usually give MAMI stickers with our CDs. So all of my friends from my hometown have MAMI stickers (laughs).

Were there any memorable events that left an impression on you when you debuted?

I transferred schools. Right before we debuted, I transferred to a high school in Tokyo at the end of the summer holidays.

It’s Rina ー´ω｀☆！

Today, the four of us were taken to see SUGER’s Flowers Blooming in an Abandoned Building ー☆！

I was so moved pq..)

It was a good play(・＿*)ノ

In about a month, Rina and Skyandaru will be having our X’mas concert (゜∀・`)

The number of people who will be coming to see us at this concert as well is amazing～。
Is what I want to be able to say。I thinkヽ(・∀.)丿

We worked on song writing today, until we were dying (;・З゜)b゛
As expected, it’s really hard (^^;
I guess for now, even if it kills us, we’ll keep working on it pq..)
